White Cottage Painted Furniture

White on White Cottage Furniture
By Kathryn Bangs

This is a piece a shop owner brought over for me to paint.  As a vintage furniture painter
I often get calls from antique and consignment shop to paint pieces that
have not sold. I give them a romantic fresh look.

Many times to save money they paint the base coat.  On this piece the base coat is Ben Moore Linen White. I added the shabby florals and bright white accent color.

I charge a flat hourly art fee 30.00 (If you have seen my you tube Kathryn Bangs you can see how fast I paint)  the art on this piece was about 30 min.  Painted as seen cost shop owner  20.00-25.00

That way the shop owner can bring me a bunch of pieces and in a short period of time they have a new collection for there shop or website.

Shabby Roses Success Story.
I once painted a vintage vanity for a shop just outside of Boston. This vanity had sat in the shop for months the cost was only $50.00 but still it had no takers. I painted it a beautiful yellow added some white stripe and blue roses. I came out very pretty.
That piece sold within the week for $600.00... Romantic pretty is always in style.

Yes, I am available to paint Shabby Florals on your furniture
Custom orders are always welcomed

How To Decoupage Vintage Suitcases Train Cases and Luggage

Today, I am sharing a fast and easy How to Decoupage Old Luggage lesson. I have included two pages of my handpainted hydrangeas that you can use to decoupage your old suitcases.
Simple click on the photos to enlarge, save them on your computer and print them as needed for your projects.

To make your own vintage hydrangea luggage, spray prime your piece with Kilz primer.
Paint a soft white. I use Benjamin Moore Linen White paint in an egg shell finish. To add stripes, use brown paper tape that painters use to mask off your stripes. Paint stripes a light blue and then remove tape.

Decoupage hydrangeas and seal with polyurethane.

You're done!

About my sample photos:

Bridal Train Case -  These are rare and hard to find. I believe they cost $15.00 but it was worth every penny. If you plan to sell your vintage suitcase, I have found the train cases are my best sellers. So make sure you have some of these beauties in stock. Many of my customers use these on their weekend trips and cruises

This was a vintage brown leather briefcase I pick up at the Londonderry Flea Market in Londonderry, NH a few years ago. It only cost $1.00. What a great price!
I hand painted the flowers, but you can easily use my decoupage hydrangeas for great results.

How To Paint A Shabby Chic Rose Video Lesson

I love painting old furniture. I love to find old dressers, paint them a soft creamy white and add a few shabby roses in romantic sunset colors.

I love to sell my work at local consignment shops or on my website.

If you would like to do the same, here is a quick how to paint a rose lesson.
It's not a fancy lesson...  Just me in my backyard.
You can hear kids and planes in the background.
It's a warm summer day. Perfect for painting outside.

This video is a free bonus video on my How To Paint Shabby Roses Lesson.
Complete lesson is available on my website http://www.collagesheetgirl.com/

Enjoy!
